Youth Family Night
Join us this Sunday at 6pm for a Youth Family Night.
With the hustle and bustle of the holidays rapidly approaching, we need to stop. Stop and reflect. What are you thankful for? But what are you missing? What is it in your life that maybe you don’t see as something to be thankful for?
Sure we have a lot that we could complain about, sure things could get better. But things could also be a lot worse. And for that alone we should be thankful. But Thankful is a state of mind. And on Sunday, my hope is that you will view Thanksgiving in a whole new light.
So get a sitter for the kids, and join your teenager for Youth Family Night. See You There!!!

Tyra talks Sex…
Not a big fan of the Tyra Banks show, but I found this very interesting.
Over the summer, Tyra Banks surveyed 10,000 girls on her website on all kinds of social issues, including teen pregnancy, drugs, alcohol, violence, STD’s, and sexual habits.
The results are kind of scary. Here is a sampling of the results of the survey-
Is that not enough info to get you concerned. Listen to these quotes from the article:
“A lot of the guys, if I didn’t have unprotected sex with them, they would get mad at me and I still wanted that closeness with them,” one girl says during the show. “I was afraid if I didn’t do what they wanted, they wouldn’t be my friend.”
Another girl, a 17-year-old mother of a 7-month-old boy, says she lost her virginity on a school lunch break and deliberately planned her pregnancy by monitoring her menstrual cycle.
“I had helped teach a sex-ed class to a class of freshmen my sophomore year,” she explains. “We taught how … there’s a week [in] the month you are more likely to get pregnant than any other time of the month. I had calculated that out and I decided on two days I was most likely to get pregnant.”

Wow, now that’s personal responsibility!
You have to see the hard line this mom takes on her son’s bike riding habits!
Apparently her son and daughter were riding their bikes through an apartment complex parking lot, and a cop was driving through the lot as well. Basically, the girl saw the cop and turned out of the way. But the boy kept going straight and the cop hit him.
Well, you can read the rest here…
I would love to hear your thoughts!

Watch Sex, Have Sex…
A ground-breaking study from Chicago has noticed an interesting pattern. Teenagers who watch a lot of tv with sexual dialogue and behavior have a higher pregnancy rate than those who do not.
Check out the entire artilce here
The big thing to take away from the study- Talk with your kids about sex so they don’t have their views formed by what they see on TV!
