The Truth about Teen Girls…
Interesting Time Magazine article entitled “The Truth about Teen Girls”. Obviously it is written soley from a secular viewpoint but it has some great points about how culture, media, families, have all put pressure on teen girls to become super-hot.
It seems that somewhere along the way, the message given to teen girls is this: It doesn’t really matter if you are incredibly smart, gifted or have a great personality…all those things are good. But the real things is that you have to be super-sexy. Nothing else matters.” And then we wonder why we have tween and teen girls dressing and looking like they are in their mid-20’s and starving themselves to get in to a certain shape.
It’s an interesting read..

Alco-pops
An interesting marketing trend is starting to occur across the nation. With the widely spread popularity of energy drinks and high-octane sodas, alcohol companies have started creating energy drinks and sodas with alcohol in them. And the scariest thing of it all is that unless you look for the tiny labeling that says alcohol you would never know the difference between an alcoholic and non-alcoholic energy drink.
I encourage you to read more about this phenomenon. After all, your kids are going to be faced with this issue. Here is the article.
I also suggest that you watch the video report put out by the San Diego Youth Council. It definitely opened my eyes
